This was a project we made in 2010 for Aerosol Press. A limited print to be used for the promotion of author Reyna Grande's novel Dancing with Butterflies.

The main font used for the title is called Mexican Gothic, and it was made by Mexican designer Nacho Peón. We adapted the accent from the original font file to make it be part of the letter structure, making it look more "architectural."

We had other Mexican fonts in mind for the other texts, but opted for using Journal in the scroll text with Mariana and Reyna's credit, which was made by Emigre in USA, because it had enough of that "Latin art" flavor in it that we had in mind-. The font used in the limited edition and in the copyright text is Garamond which was the most popular typeface that was used in the Colonial Mexico book workshops (XVI-XVIII Century). ;-)

The watermark symbol in the lower left corner is inspired in the Aztec Calendar wheel, which is also a motif of the $1 peso coins.
